Palm Tree / Island tutorial
Three-part short tutorial series on the quick basics of creating an island scene. The end result isn't quite as detailed as the renders I've shown, but it should get you off to a good start.

Playing with the island
I played with a few different types of leaves on the tree (these solid leaves make it a banana tree), and edited the ocean settings and colors, hopefully arriving at a more tropical look. Yes, I cheated and used a photo for the cloud background, although I tried to be legit and use the "Cloud Generator" plugin, but I couldn't get them to look right. Perhaps in the end, I'll do some good cloud renders by themselves for use as background images, rather than photos...
I'm sure at some point I'll make some sort of "Lost" reference (or maybe I'll "Easter Egg" it in there somewhere... if I can do it without infringing anything...), but for now, I'll just show you some of my test footage of the wind blowing the water, tree, and grass. I'm currently rendering a test video of this scene, and I'll be sure to put it up on my Youtube page when it's done. Hopefully this quick little scene will bring some summer sun to your winter cold. Created a secondary character; this is going to be the guy that Ted is communicating with when he goes out of range. Not a major character, just someone to be on the other side of the radio.
Captain Ted – Story coming together
Well the story I have in mind for Captain Ted is finally starting to come together. I've been working on an outline, and finally came up with a "decent" story with a moral and all that. Hopefully it will be as entertaining as I intend...
I'm wanting to do this project 100% on my own, so don't be surprised if I don't take any critique advice; I'll probably actually not release any actual work until I've got something "done."
I will give you the basis for the story, if you're interested: Ted is a pilot in the Air Force, and is flying a standard procedure flight, when he accidentally goes out of communication range, and crash lands on an island in the Caribbean (or really any non-specific tropical island). Exploring the island, he discovers an alien who has also crash landed, and has a chimp with him, whom he rescued from a test rocket back in the 60s/70s. They all become friends, and set about trying to find a way to get home.

Welcome to the new and improved davidallenward.com; I've neglected to update the older version of the site, mostly because it was a bit of a hassle to go in and add new pages and such; now I've brought in WordPress, and figured it was about time to get it done. So here we are. Hopefully I can keep this one updated a bit better; although I'm sure it'll have a lot of the same content as my Facebook Artist page, but maybe with a bit more of a personal touch, as well, as I'll also try to keep a blog
